Gunita Collective will be joining in a collective performance night curated by Kyoto Takenaka.

This performance will be exploring the theme of Asians in America considering that the future we’re consistently waiting for is already here and within our hands to mold. This will be an interdisciplinary performance in which multiple artists and artists collective throughout Los Angeles will be coming together to build together.

The last and culminating event of our || R O O T E D  I N T E R S E C T I O N S || series! This is going to be a beautiful night filled with MUSIC X ART X MERIENDA X PERFORMANCES X SHOP. 

Come join us for a three hour period of shared space. There will be food and music with plenty of art to take in. This will include a performance hour in which multiple collectives scattered through Los Angeles will be coming together to build together.

|| ROOTED INTERSECTIONS ||: Intergenerational Workshop(s) Day

The second in Gunita's || R O O T E D  I N T E R S E C T I O N S || series, this entire day will be focused on the intersections between Maglalatik and Waacking as well as that of Tinikling and House. 

Each pairing is a two hour workshop and includes a roundtable discussion connecting the movement to our sense of identity and how it plays a role within our processing of the diaspora. Each movement will be brought into focus as to how our creative practice is a means toward decolonization. 

Intergenerational by nature, we mean to explore the various ways generation to generation could hold conversation both verbally and physically. 

Registration: We will take care of sign-ups prior to the event via venmo or paypal as well as at the door. 

Cost: $15 per class, $25 per pairing, or $45 for ALL CLASS pass. 

Payment can be taking by cash or via venmo or paypal.

The first in Gunita's || R O O T E D  I N T E R S E C T I O N S || series, this demo class will provide a two hour exploratory workshop for the youth. We will be focusing particularly on the intersections between Maglalatik and Waacking as well as that of Tinikling and House. 

This is the perfect place to explore one's heritage within the Philippine diaspora as well as find the ways in which one's indigenous dances can inform their contemporary street dances!

Cost: $5 - $10 Sliding Scale

Payment can be taking by cash or via venmo or paypal.

Waack Crackle Lock

Noelle Marie, founder of Gunita Collective, will be judging the Waack Crackle Lock Jam alongside other dancers. This is a 2v2 freestyle competition in which one locker and one waacker will be randomly paired together to compete for the prize!

Waacking Fundamentals Workshop

Noelle Marie will be teaching a Waacking Workshop in collaboration with Waacking Wednesdays. She will be reviewing foundational movement, freestyle creation, and battle tactics as a precursor to the Waack, Crackle, Lock Battle taking place in Oakland, California. 

There will be a freestyle session with live music provided by DJ Tinman after the workshop.  

Cost: $5 suggested donation (all donations will be used to fund the Gunita Collective)
